2nd Annual Softie Awards Opens Today!
They're finally here! The 2nd Annual Softie Awards kicks off today with all NEW, fun categories! So get creative, get sewing and submit a softie. Only original designs please.
The Categories:
PICNIC FOOD - for all the food-loving softie designers and appreciative softie-lovers...enter softie food that you would take to a picnic - hamburgers, hot dogs, pie, soda pop, watermelon, etc. I would love to see a whole picnic basket full of food, or softies arranged on a checkered tablecloth. Keep in mind that creatively styled photos often help engage the viewer (and judge).
ELEPHANT TRIBUTE - a few weeks ago, I posted about the first EVER softie, which was an elephant made by Margarete Stieff. Re-read the post here. So in a tribute to the softie that started it all, this category is for Elephants only.
CUTEST FACE - as we all know, softies have the cutest faces and here's your chance to pit one against another. Think Cute Overload but for softies. This is a wide-open category but the key is to make the face as cute as possible. It will be hard picking 5 finalists I'm sure, but we'll give it a go!
PINK OR PLAID - If you're a regular reader here, you'll know I often do posts of pink softies. I like plaid too. So this category is for pink softies or plaid softies or pink plaid softies would be perfect! Your softie may have some other coloring to it, but it should be mostly pink or mostly plaid - at least 75%.
EMBROIDERED TO DEATH - Embroidery is the new black this season and I wanted to give all the talented embroiderers another showcase here. For inspiration see Foresita's Embroidery Group on flickr and follow the links to her blog too. Your softie must have embroidery as a design element, so if you do a blanket stitch to close a seam, that's probably not going to be enough. Let's see some extra floss and beautiful stitching please!
How to Enter:
It's easy! Just add the photo of your softie to the 2nd Annual Softie Awards flickr group with the appropriate TAG. YOU MUST put the following tags on your photos - photos in the group without the proper tag will be deleted.
Picnic Food Category TAG: SA2food
Elephant Tribute Category TAG: SA2elephant
Cutest Face Category TAG: SA2face
Pink or Plaid Category TAG: SA2pink
Embroidered to Death Cat. TAG: SA2embroidered
Important Dates
The 2nd Annual Softie Awards opens April 1st for entries. You've got about 3 weeks to enter - your entry must be posted to the flickr group by midnight on FRIDAY APRIL 18th.
Top 5 finalists will be announced the following week and voting will open after that - exact dates and links to the voting page will be posted here on Softies Central and on the 2nd Annual Softie Awards flickr group page.
Judges will be announced later this week. Only original designs. Email me if you have questions at: softiescentral@yahoo.com
