Pincushion make-do's

Just a quick little post to show off these wonderful pinnie make-do's by Kingfisher Farm. Photo was posted on Pengpeng Bear's flickr here. I love make-do's - the found nature of the object and the charm of leftovers. These adorable chicks sitting on their eggs would make a perfect Easter present. And isn't it great when you have a group photo like this - each makes the other more beautiful.

Spring Flowers

I'm writing this on a wintery day and dreaming of spring. This charming elephant with a rose in his nose is made of a recycled army blanket and that's a silk flower and button for his nose...by nimbleknot.

Pink & Red Day

Still a lover of pink and red together, I've found some softies today for the theme. I overdosed a bit with Christmas softie posts and so thought I wouldn't really do a big thing about Valentine's Day, but I guess pink/red is close. Also, later in the week, a post about hearts....I guess I'm doing Valentine's Day....Above, Violet sits in her secret pocket by nimbleknot.

Pincushions

I truely love pincushions. There's something about the small round/square shape that seems like the perfect form that's both restrictive and also let's you be wildly creative. Pincushion posts will be a regular feature I think. The ones I've picked today are all really different and showcase the diversity of the form.

So today we start with a couple of great pincushions made for the November Pincushion Challenge/Swap. You can see all here although they've all been uploaded to flickr by the organizer and I don't have links to the individual artists, sorry. The one above is really interestingly topped with fabric selvege.
